Quality, innovation, and service are the driving principles behind Cleveland Tubing, Inc. Founded in 1989, Cleveland Tubing is dedicated to producing the best product for the best price. This dedication has paid off. Since 1989, CTI has grown exponentially, making massive gains in sales, product lines, and facilities. In the beginning CTI produced tubing for only one customer. Now CTI’s products range from specialty drinking straws, to molded plastic parts, to a number of custom-designed applications for plastic tubing. We’ve come a long way as the following history indicates.

Important Events in the History of Cleveland Tubing, Inc.

June 1989
Cleveland Tubing, Inc. is incorporated and starts production on one production line.

January 1990
Second production line is added to produce containment pipe.

June 1992
Third production line is added to produce corrugated plastic straws.

1992
Pam Wells joins Cleveland Tubing as a sales representative

February 1993
Fourth production line is added.

June 1993
Respiratory therapy and anesthesia tubing added as a product line.

April 1994
Central vacuum system installed in new facility

May 1994
Cleveland Tubing, Inc. moves into expanded and upgraded facilities and adds 1 production line.

June 1994
Cathy Boettner joins the company as sales manager

July 1994
Development of Quality system is begun.

August 1994
Sixth production line is installed.

June 1995
Cathy Boettner is named general manager

October 1996
Cleveland Tubing, Inc. is the first manufacturer of corrugated plastic tubing to achieve ISO 9001-1994 Certification

July 1997
Heinrich Dickhut retires as president of CTI, Cathy Boettner is named president.

December 1997
6.78 acres are purchased in industrial park for new facility

June 1998
Groundbreaking for new facility is held.

July 1998
New cutting technology is installed.

October 1998
Better Business Bureau recognizes Cleveland Tubing, Inc. with the Torch Award for Business Ethics

November 1998
Cleveland Tubing, Inc. moves to new facility and adds bulk handling capability and 2 additional production lines, expanded shipping facilities

January 1999
Cleveland Tubing, Inc. implements a manufacturing accounting package which adds additional elements of scheduling, inventory control, shipping, bills of material.

October 2000
Mike Boettner joins Cleveland Tubing as Engineering/ISO manager

March 2002
Barcoding implementation begins.

March 2003
New shelf rack system is installed to maintain a FIFO inventory system more effectively

February 2004
Cleveland Tubing is certified to ISO 9001-2000

March 2004
InfinityQS® statistical process control system is implemented—on line readings begin.

April 2004
Sold medical tubing business to Global Med.

May 2004
Weigh blending and on-line regrind capabilities are added to all production lines

June 2004
CTI is certified as a woman owned business by the National Women Business Owners Corporation

May 2005

Cleveland Tubing launches a new product,
FLEX-Drain®

September 2006
Cleveland Tubing introduces perforated and perforated with sock versions of FLEX-Drain®

October 2006
FLEX-Drain is given the Do it Best Members Choice Award for BEST NEW PRODUCT, PLUMBING at the Do it Best Fall Market in Indianapolis, IN.

January 2007
Tom Edwards joins the company as Senior Project Engineer.

Gary Payne was promoted from Maintenance Supervisor to Maintenance Manager.

February 2007
FLEX-Drain® is nominated for the Kruesi Award for Innovation.

April 2007
Chris Turner joins the company as Plant Manager.
